Undead and vegan? Not the undead-afterlife this girl had planned.
Waking up thin is one thing. But waking up gaunt, hangry, and undead makes for a very bad day. That’s only the beginning. Mallory’s killer better hide, because she’s just discovered blood, meat, and dairy don’t agree with her–and a future with no cheese is grim indeed. She’s out to find her killer…and maybe a vegan cheese that doesn’t melt her nose hairs.

AN EDITOR'S PICK
The Vegan Vampire series by Cate Lawley grabbed my attention just by the title. Normally I tend to read dark crime novels, but every once in awhile I veer off the beaten path towards something completely different. And boy am I glad I did for this book. The title roped me right in and the great writing kept me coming back for more. The first book in this sweet paranormal cozy mystery series is called The Adventure of a Vegan Vampire. The main character, Mallory, wakes up one morning hungry, disoriented and well…undead. She doesn’t know how she got that way or what to do. A chance meeting at an urgent care facility gets her some of the answers she needs. When she becomes introduced to the vampire society she find out that she isn’t an ordinary vampire (she can’t drink blood). Even the thought of blood makes her queasy. After a lot of trial and error she finds a combination of things she can ingest to stay alive. Which is a good thing because she is determined to find out who turned her into a vampire and to help her new friend, Alex (society detective) bring him to justice. If you like snappy dialogue and dry humor than this is the series for you. The story idea is clever and the interactions between the main characters is hilarious. I highly recommend this book as well as the rest of the books in the series.
